How keeppe works

keeppe is an electronic device that is installed inside the intercom handset of a home, a holiday apartment or a practice. When someone rings that flat from the street door panel, it opens the building's street door after a 5-second pause. It works with no wifi, no app, no batteries and no fees.

In short

  • What it does: opens the building's street door when someone rings your flat from the door panel.
  • Where it goes: inside your flat's intercom handset, without touching any shared part of the building.
  • What it doesn't do: it doesn't open your flat's door, which stays locked.
  • Who it's for: holiday rental hosts, holiday apartment managers, practices and offices.
  • Price: one-time payment from €89, with no subscription or maintenance.

How it works, step by step

1

Someone rings your flat

Your guest, patient or client rings your flat from the door panel, like any visitor.

2

5-second pause

keeppe detects the call and waits 5 seconds.

3

The street door opens

The building door opens and your client enters naturally and discreetly.

* The pause is fixed: 5 seconds from the moment the bell starts ringing in the flat. On some systems the door takes a little longer to open, because the bell in the flat rings a few seconds after the call is made downstairs. It's usually 5 to 10 seconds.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if…

  • Your building has a street door and an intercom that works and opens it.
  • You receive guests, patients or clients and don't want to be on hand to let them in.
  • You want to avoid key lockboxes on the street, or they are banned where you are.

Not for you if…

  • It's a detached house, a villa or a chalet.
  • The building has no intercom or it doesn't work: keeppe doesn't install or repair intercoms.
  • Your intercom opens with a touchscreen (a version is coming soon).

keeppe takes care of getting into the building. For the flat's own door you can use a code lock that doesn't depend on wifi, or a key lockbox on the apartment door itself.

How it differs from other solutions

Other devices that connect to the intercom usually need wifi, an app, batteries or a monthly subscription, and they stay in sight. keeppe needs none of that and stays hidden inside the intercom. Compared with a key lockbox, your guest doesn't have to look for any box on the street.

Frequently asked questions

Does it open the door to anyone?
It opens to whoever rings your flat specifically, after a 5-second pause; they may think someone has let them in, because access with keeppe feels natural and discreet. And it only gives access to the shared areas, just like the postman or delivery drivers get in: your flat stays locked.
Plus, you get smooth access and save yourself a subscription fee.
In the keeppe office model you can switch off automatic opening whenever you like, by flipping the switch down.
