In a flat in Málaga

In 2019, a man from Málaga, an electronics technician, started renting out his flat as a holiday let on some weekends.

The need soon arose and, with two things in mind — keeping good relations with the neighbours and not having to hand over keys in person — he set about devising a solution.

The first Keeppe

With over 25 years in electronics, he did what he did best: he took apart the home's intercom and started thinking about how to automate it. It took him a while, but he finally managed it and built a first device, still very rough but working.

It ran for years in that flat, and the best part is that not even the neighbours knew it existed. That discretion, opening the entrance without anyone noticing a thing, stayed forever in Keeppe's DNA.

Word of mouth, unstoppable

Soon, family and friends started asking for the same thing for their holiday flats and professional offices. There was never any intention to sell anything: it was the people around him who were demanding that it exist. The first installations were in central Málaga, then along the Costa del Sol, and word of mouth became unstoppable.

It was demand, not a business plan, that drove the development. Each new building brought a different intercom, and with it a new challenge: for Keeppe to work in every building, without exception.

Why no app, no wifi and no batteries

From the start there was one rule we haven't broken: no relying on batteries, wifi or external cables running to the intercom. Those are exactly the things that fail, you have to keep an eye on changing batteries, and they also make the installation messy.

That's why Keeppe draws power from the building itself and opens the entrance from the intercom, with no app and no wifi. Reliability first.

Today, Keeppe

What began as a personal project kept growing until, in 2025, it took the step of becoming a brand in its own right. Today Keeppe is designed and manufactured in Spain, it's compatible with analogue and digital intercoms, and we're already working on the next challenge: a Keeppe device for touchscreen intercoms, able to mimic the press of a finger on the screen.
